Morielli's Inn and Diner - Oh My Buhay

Engineer Jojo accompanied me to the newly elected barangay captain to brief him actually on the encroachment and right of way of hundreds of residents living behind the small lot where I wanted to put up a 100 square meter commercial stall. Not that I needed a padrino. It just so happened that I also have a meeting with Engr. Jojo and since the new kapitan is his childhood friend, he willingly came with me.

The barangay captain was the number one kagawad. When Kapitan Marcing reached his 3rd and last term, he naturally succeeded him.

He paid me a compliment by saying that even if it’s our first time to meet, he said “magkakasundo ho tayo dahil ramdam ko na mahusay kayong kausap at mabait kayo dahil iniisip nyo pa kung saan daraan ang mga tao”.

After that, Jojo and I convoyed and stopped at Morielli’s restaurant. It crossed my mind that Jojo and I would be by ourselves, baka magselos ang misis nya. While we were there, she called him 3x. Siguro they missed each other so much.

Morielli’s Inn and Diner opened in March of this year and yet they zoomed way past the old timers in Tagaytay and landed on number 2 as Best Restaurant in Tagaytay second only to Antonio’s who’s unbeatable and secured at number one. This of course is based on Trip Advisor’s recent rating.

Jojo wanted to just have coffee but I insisted that we should order something else for us to have the privilege to use their table.
061

He ordered coffee and mango crepe, I ordered pizza and mango shake.

The pizza was okay, parang homemade, not gourmet. I finished the whole thing kasi it’s small naman.

The owner, Louie Reyes was standing near the door when we were about to leave. He asked if we found the food okay.
056

Louie single-handedly built, designed, decorated, the whole place.
He picked every tiny decor there is.
065

Their resident chef is Louie’s eldest son, Mario
059

I asked about his restaurant’s name Morielli. They combined pala his parents-in-law’s first names. According to Louie, his parents-in-law are successful businessmen. They own ICS Printing. In everything that they do, they became successful. They wanted this success to rub-off on their new restaurant venture so they named it after Moriet and Gely.
057

Moriet and Gely’s endless love is becoming rare nowadays.

I think one of the reason’s why Morielli’s is successful is because it has a good story. People like something that touches their hearts, not just their palate.
058

The owner invited me to go up to the second floor where 4 guest rooms are located. It has a living room cum lobby.

064

All rooms have the same blueprint and decor.
A queen bed for two and a loft for two. They all have aircon, tv, toilet and bath.
climbing the almost vertical ladder to go up the loft is a challenge for older people. Fun for your ones.
The loft is a crawl space, not for standing up. Perfect for honeymooners, wala ng tayuan.
067

If you are sensitive to noise, choose the rooms at the back.
