Moynat is one of the oldest leather trunk makers in Paris. It was founded in 1849 by Octavie and Francois Coulembier, the makers, and Pauline Moynat, who sold travel goods in her store in the Opera district. Moynat became successful for more than one hundred years. It closed in 1976, in a few years, it changed owners a few times. Moynat is back and this time under the realm of LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault.
While we were in Galeries Lafayette, Oyen saw this blue bag hanging on one of the racks on the second floor, just in front of LV boutique. It looks a little bit similar to Gouyard.
She wanted to buy a pangharabas bag she could use to the office, pampasyal, for traveling but she wanted a brand that is not yet too common in the Philippines. Gouyard kasi is too common na. Many have it, both true (orig) and false (fake).
She is also repulsed by LV’s monogrammed bags kasi nga too common na rin.
Moynat is the perfect brand for her. It cannot be baduy (not yet) because there’s only one place in this world (for now) one could get it and that’s in Paris. Only those in the know would know what Moynat is. That’s what they say.
She chose the blue tote bag over this brownish color.
This one’s more expensive, I think this is Euro 3,000 (P180,000). the leather daw is the same as that of a Birkin. Parang hindi ah.
She went back to Galeries Lafayette after a few days and scratched her credit card.
It’s construction is very simple. Perfect for casual and everyday use.
She had her initials stamped at the Moynat factory. She picked it up from Galeries after three days.
Oyen went to Moynat’s main boutique in Rue saint. Honore. She was surprised that there were many Filipinos inside the store. The very accommodating sales people told her that they have many customers from Quezon City, Makati, etc.
Huh, marami ng meron. Hahahaha. Bukas meron na yan sa Greenhills. Hihihi.
Moynat (pronounced as mwana)
To my Moynat is not owned by LVMH, but is privately owned by LVHM CEO Bernard Arnault.
ANYWAY, I discovered your blog a few months ago, and I’m so engrossed in reading it on a daily basis. It’s hilariously entertaining. Nakakatuwa po kayo 🙂
