At the birthday party of Chino Raymundo, it seemed that the song Me and Mrs. Jones was one of their favorites. Raymund Puyat was going around egging some people to sing this song including Chino and his wife Maritoni. Yes they did. They both went up the stage and sang although magkalayo ang microphones nila.
I’ve heard this song many times before kasi luma na ito. Nice melody.
I thought it’s the theme song of Mr. Chino and Mrs. Maritoni Raymundo.

The next morning, Edmund and I were talking about what happened the night before at Chino’s party. Yung naligaw kami, sarap ng lechon, yung nauna pa yung mga band crew na kumain, why most people were wearing black, etc.

He told me buti na lang daw hindi ako nagpunta dun sa harap at nagsasayaw kundi uwian na agad.

I told him about the band’s songs. Our conversation veered towards Raymund Puyat, mahilig pala syang kumanta, maganda naman ang boses. Tapos napunta na kay Me and Mrs. Jones. He made me listen to the original version by Billy Paul with lyrics pa kasi he too wanted to sing it.

Aba, nakita-kita ko, hindi naman pala ito kanta ng mag-asawa. This song is not appropriate to be sang by a married couple. This song is a song for those having an illicit affair. In other words, kung ikaw ay may-asawang tao, you shouldn’t be singing this song dahil ito ay kanta ng mga magkulasisi. Chino and wife should stop singing this song. Hindi naman sila magkulasisi. Mag-asawa sila.

Pag si Edmund narinig kong kinakanta ito, naku kukurutin ko ang nguso nya.
