Oyen had to stay home and rest that’s why she canceled her travel to the US supposedly to spend Christmas and New Year. She found out that she is pregnant after travel tickets had already been purchased and hotel rooms booked. It’s okay. Traveling during the first trimester, or second trimester, or when pregnant is not advised.
I stayed mostly in bed for two weeks after my first visit to the obgyne when I got pregnant for the first time. I have a threatened abortion daw kaya dapat in bed lang. To hear those words from the doctor was devastating to any would-be mother. But in my youth, wala akong gaanong takot. I just took the medicines the doctor prescribed, mostly vitamins and one pampakapit daw. Thanks to the Almighty, my baby held on tight and came out so pretty and healthy.
Because Oyen is already in her 30s, of course, there’s fear that she would have difficulty conceiving but her parents believed that there’s nothing wrong with her ovary and that she would get pregnant.
I prayed so hard that God gives her the greatest blessing of being a mother. I am sure she would be an excellent one. Having a child also means she will have a companion that would not abandon her. Meron sya laging kakampi. She will have an eating buddy, shopping kunsintidora, travel agent, and someone to inherit her kindness.
I will never stop looking at my children as my babies. My baby girl having a baby is mind-boggling and a realization that I am indeed old na. There is a trade-off however, and it’s a good one. Being old has its benefits too. Being a lola.
Marami ngayon ayaw matawag na lolo at lola. Uso ngayon kung anu-anong tawag— except lola. Akala ko ba gusto nyong maging lola pero bakit ayaw nyong matawag na lola? Edmund and I would like to be called simply as lolo and lolo respectively.
