My back still hurts, more so when I am lying down. I decided to stay home to rest. I also slept from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. The sound of the rain splattering against the glass and aluminum windows lulled me to sleep.
Edmund arrived home from golf at 4:20 pm. I was dressed already. I wore this green, white and blue printed silk dress from Amir Sali. It’s been in my cabinet for several months and it’s my first time to wear this.
I was not feeling comfortable in that dress. Parang hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit. Yun pala the dress had plastic bone sticks to keep the waistline flatter and the body straighter. Ang sakit sa may ribs kasi tumutusok.
I made a tiny hole to pull one out, ayaw. The bones were firmly sewn in the second lining.
Ay ginupit ko na lang nga.
There you go. Gone. Nice shape.
E—“O kala ko bihis ka na?”
A—-“Meron palang mga sticks, tinatanggal ko kasi masakit”.
Napasubo ako. There were one dozen plastic sticks sewn around the waist line. Six in the front.
Come 5:50 pm, E—“Abah nasan ba yung anak mo at late na tayo sa mass”. I dialed Oyen’s number — out of reach. I called her P.A. “pls press 5 for ring back..” They’re in the village na daw.
We were late by a few minutes lang, maybe 10.
We very seldom wear printed clothes. Tonight all of us wore prints. Edmund’s shirt had tiny polka dots. Oyen and I looked like we just got out of a textile factory. Hers is a safari inspired- print, mine is geometric.
We always see our neighbors Tina and Kilip at the church. They are a happy couple and seem to be nice individuals. Their son is my son’s classmate since elementary.
While at the church, Oyen asked if we’re going to Haru again for dinner. No!! I am sawa na. Puro Japanese na kami this past several weeks. Mukha na akong arigato.
Dimsum? I suggested we go to Summer Palace on the second floor of Edsa Plaza Hotel.
Oyen—“I left my discount card at home”.
A——“So we’ll swing by the house first?”
Oyen—“I think I left it in the office”.
E——“Sa Cowrie Grill merong 50% off”.
Oyen—-“Steak yun, not dimsum”.
When my husband saw the karatula (poster) of Citibank at the restaurant’s entrance, he said, in a very loud voice, “HAYAN FIFTY PERCENT OFF!”. I was a bit embarrassed, halatang naghahanap kami ng discount.
We all ordered package A, steak.
The package came with a small plate of salad and a 3/4 bowl of mushroom soup.
The mushroom soup was lacking in taste. It seemed like more water had been added to dilute it. We added more salt and pepper.
E—–“Saan na nga ba pinakamasarap na mushroom soup? Dun sa ____”.
Tiramisu and chocolate crinkles plus coffee or tea were the ones included in the menu.
I ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream to compliment the tiramisu. This was not included in the prefix menu.
We have some left-overs from the steak’s fatty portions, perfect pasalubong for Lucy, Jack, Twinkle, Tyler and Stitch.
Oohh ms Annie.. I just can’t help but notice.. Is that an engagement ring on Oyen’s right ring finger? It’s a beautiful ring,, 🙂
