My Two Valentines

I didn’t want my son to spend money to buy me flowers. Sobrang mahal. Most especially at this time when he’s on a tight budget. Pero he would not let Valentine’s Day go by without giving me something. Kahit nung maliit pa yan ganyan na. I told him he didn’t have to buy a dozen roses, pwede naman kahit one stem, two or three maximum.

We went to mass together. Afterwards we went our separate ways. My son went to a restaurant with his date.
While my daughter and I went to dinner at Open Kitchen.

Oyen called to reserve a table immediately after we left the church.

Instead of rose petals which are expensive, the restaurant used bougainvillea petals. More practical because they’re free from your neighbor’s bakod.

I am not on a diet. I went for the pre-fixed menu that included salad, main course, dessert.
Their pako salad was delicious. It’s not nakakasuya, no heavy dressing. I would like to go back next week and order this salad again.

They gave me a small serving of black rice with isang kulawit na ice cream and tiny bits of fresh mangoes. It was not sweet.
Open kitchen is creative and inventive.

There was a couple beside our table. They must be in their mid to late thirties. I noticed that all the woman did was to use her cellphone. Facebook maybe, text, etc. She spent most of her time nakatunga-nga sa cellphone nya. What a pity and a waste. Waste of time. Oyen thinks they’re married. Of course, who does those things? Only married people who are so bored with their spouse. Valentines day is about loving. Loving is giving. Giving your time and attention, wholeheartedly.

My date

Thank you to my two Valentines. I want you to know how much I appreciate your willingness to keep me entertained on this day. You two are such wonderful kids and I am lucky to have been chosen to be your mother.
You care for me a lot and are sensitive to my feelings. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
