Neighbor’s Grievances

Last night was the election of a new set of directors in our village. The same group of people were elected because no one else are willing to spend their resting hours serving the village.

I was elected again as the Corporate Secretary. It’s a fairly easy job. The memos are sent to my house for my signature. Papirma-pirma lang.

Two years ago, the Magna Carta on Homeowners Associations was passed into law. Because of that, this simple agrupation of common residence became a job The government now requires so many ek ek. Many unnecessary paperworks. Many BIR filing, more taxes. Aside from that, we are required to form a dozen committees. Committee on Clubhouse and Sports, Committee on Environment and Beautification, Committee on Security, Committee on Audit, Committee on Grievances, Committee on Construction, etc. Eh we are only less than 10 people.
So kamikami rin, paikut-ikot lang. I turned down the Beautification and the Clubhouse. I also turned down to be the head of the Committee on Grievances. Our neighbor regularly complains about our barking dogs, eh pano yun if I am the head, I would hear his grievance against me?

Last Sunday afternoon, he complained twice. He sent the security two times to our house to call our attention on our barking dogs. They were nor barking naman. The other day, he called up the admin complaining about the barking dog on his right side neighbor. Nagalit naman si neighbor #1. Their puppy daw is not barking. Baka daw the dogs of Edward, across their house. Our dog-bark-sound-sensitive neighbor should by all means go to Kenneth and Mock and have his windows changed for his peace of mind. He cannot control the noise outside.

Peter, the owner of Lugang Cafe, is complaining about his neighbor across the street. Peter had a party last December, syempre the whole street was full of cars of his guests. One of his guests parked in front of house #__. It was a BMW. Before midnight, when the guy was getting his car, to his shock, someone had poured muriatic acid on his BMW.

Two weeks ago, Peter had another party and the same thing happened. One of his guests unfortunately parked in front of that same house, I think it’s a Lexus. Ayun pagkuha nya, mas grabe pa this time. Naka ikot around the car, binuhusan rin ng muriatic acid.

My colleagues in the board said we cannot accuse the residents of that house. And of course they would not admit it. We just have to distribute a letter to all the houses in that street. What kind of people live there? Imagine if I am in the grievance committee? Mag-aaway na ganito? Dagdag stress sa buhay ko.

This morning nga as early as 8 am, our neighbor’s stereo was blasting. I closed my bathroom window but I could still hear the loud sound. I texted Edmund that we may have a problem. He’s at the airport waiting for his flight. I told him our neighbor is noisy. He said we should install double pane windows. At 8:40 am, I sent one guy to their house to request in a nice way na kung pwede hinaan ang music. Okay naman. They did.
