I went to Balaw-balaw restaurant in Angono for the pinangat na dalag but they had no dalag on that day. They ran out of stock. While I was waiting for my driver who parked half a block away, I noticed the signage of Atelier Restoran. I knew that’s Nemiranda’s house and gallery but I didn’t know that he opened a cafe at his place.
A Higante stands at the entance.
I’ve been to Nemi’s house before but there was no restaurant yet at that time. His restaurant used to be along the national highway.
Atelier cafe restaurant is easy to find. It’s only a stone’s throw away from Balawbalaw.
I went inside with hope in my heart that they would have pinangat na dalag.
Engk, wala daw.
I decided to stay and have merienda. I asked where Nemi was, he’s attending Angono Rotary Club meeting.
Crispy hipon with vinegar and garlic dip
I had this plate of cheese dynamite wrapped for my driver.
The gallery for the Angono artists is under construction, however, a couple of paintings were displayed in the restaurant.
Nemi did the murals found on the fence of Camp Aguinaldo and on the walls of EDSA Shrine. He is untiring in his efforts to make his hometown Angono as the art capital.
Carabao head made of papier mache
He mentors young artists and supports them by promoting their works.
I didn’t see the name of this sculpture, maybe Ang Hubo.
On the other side of the property is Nemiranda’s residence and gallery.
I will come back as soon as they have finished renovating the gallery.
You wouldn’t believe it. I couldn’t either. But I did go to the Ti ay ti ay one. I stared at the karatula for a few seconds just to make sure I didn’t go to the wrong room. I thought I was very sure. After I’ve washed my hands, I took a photo of this. Then I realized oh oh, I went to the Ti to the second degree.
The Nemiranda Art House Atelier Restoran Cafe is open seven days a week. For fresh seafood dishes like dalag, kanduli, hito, etc., they recommend calling a day in advance. Mamamalengke pa kasi sila.
