Not a perfect marriage - Oh My Buhay

Many people think Edmund and I have a perfect marriage. I think it’s because you only see photos of us smiling. Vacationing. Eh kasi when we are fighting we don’t stop to say “time-out let’s have a selfie first”. Some women envy us. Naku po huwag. We don’t have a perfect marriage, so so far from it.
We fight, we yell, we are each other’s source of constant irritation and annoyance. We annoy each other. He makes my blood boil and I make his as well. But despite that, we choose to live in one house, in one room, in one bed, but we have separate bathrooms and closets. We take care of each other and would not mind growing old together. My husband is makulit and nagger sometimes that’s why I am preparing for his old age and I am expecting he would be more makulit and more nagger.

OMG my stomach is bigger than my boobs. Not sexy at all. Never mind, 10 years from now I would adore this photo.

A marriage will be full of failed expectations from beginning to end. As newlyweds, we have big expectations of how great our married life would be. How romantic, how perfect, how ideal, our respective spouse would be like. Then brammmmm. He is not, she is not, life is not.

As we go along we subconsciously and gradually lower our expectations. We deny, we ignore, we accept. We unknowingly adjust. We are not aware of it but this causes a lot of unhappiness. Failed expectations equate to unhappy married life. My husband said married life is a daily struggle. It is a struggle but to say that he struggles daily means he could be very unhappy. Ay kawawa. I wonder why he is beside me still. He also said that it just depends on how much you truly love each other.
