There are many new restaurants sprouting around Metro Manila and in nearby towns but I am not a food and restaurant adventurer. I am lazy to discover new places to eat. When I hear about it, I also want to go but rarely do I search and research for new places to visit.
When asked “where do you want to eat?” I always fall back to restaurants we’ve already frequented, time tested. I also like to try new ones but I feel tired sitting in the traffic for long hours just to go to a specific restaurant. This limits my choices, yes, but I don’t feel like I am missing something.
Lately, when I am by myself, even when I feel hungry, I have difficulty deciding where to eat or what certain food I am in the mood for. I am afraid my flexibility is waning. I don’t like to eat anymore in “no aircon” places. I don’t enjoy eating while I am sweating. I don’t like to eat anymore in crowded restaurants or eateries. I now prefer to eat in quiet and laid back places. I don’t like to go to noisy restaurants. Dining for me is relaxing.
One of the restaurants that I always pick when I am in the Greenbelt area in Makati is the Chateau 1771. Whether I am dining with family or having a meeting, that’s where I go. It’s not rare to find me there eating by myself.
The restaurant suits my personality. It’s not noisy (most of the time), it’s a bit formal, and they have two dishes that I like, the pasta gambasetti and my dessert is always the lemon meringue.

Admittedly, I no longer find their pasta gambasetti as flavorful as before but I still stick to this dish every time. I noticed that the size of the prawns have shrunk tremendously.
Yen shared this cappuccino with Derrick.
I don’t like sharing my order of lemon meringue because I can finish one plate.
Ouch, no A/C…
