Oh My Buhay visits Wawa (continuation)

Wawa is called that because it’s right beside the Laguna de Bay or Laguna Lake.

It played a major part in our family life because my father had his livelihood in Wawa. He raised thousands of ducks and during strong typhoons, his farm’s flimsy fence would be blown off by the strong winds. His ducks were swept away by the overflowing river into the lake. My father would manage to rescue some of the ducks but many would be gone.  Lungkot na lungkot sya.  Aba syempre naman.

My father built a few doors apartment on this particular lot when I was still small.  He was always stressing out because the tenants were not paying.  Then after several months,  they would disappear in the middle of the night.  Sometimes, the tenant would leave tangay-tangay yung pinto!! My father naturally would be pissed.  When he left for the US,  lalong nasira yung structures and people took advantage.  Pati bubong, mga dinding, mga bintana, lahat na, ninakaw na rin.

Last year the neighbor encroached on the  property by building a bahay kubo, planted veggies,   fenced it.  I was so mad.  In February naman, I got reports that this same neighbor  extended their gate and occupied a portion of my parents’ lot.  Kunsumisyon talaga.  Ilang beses ng pinagsabihan. I have no kind words for them so I’ll stop here.

After the elections, I’ll hire a surveyor to mark the boundaries then sell.

This is Vicente.  My father got him from an employment agency somewhere in Manila maybe 50 years ago.  He married our maid Ligaya and they lived happily ever after.  They were blessed with 16 pregnancies, 15 live births.    Bakit yung iba hirap na hirap magbuntis, pero yung iba naman nasa bakuran pa lang ang asawa eh nabubuntis na.   BBM poster?  BBM sila karamihan dito.

The barangay gave me several pieces of giant tilapia.    I bought several kilos more of smaller tilapia and big milkfish (bangus) to bring home.
