I am lucky to have a very thoughtful and kind reader by the name of Bessy. I didn’t know how she found my blog. She must have been my reader for two years now.
It’s been her wish to meet up with me. She and her husband live in Sta. Clara, 15 minutes away from San Jose. Since I was going to San Jose, we agreed to meet up somewhere there last Friday, October 17.
When Aileen, Bong and I went to Stevens Creek Blvd. where all the major car dealerships are located, I noticed the Thai restaurant across the parking lot of Land Rover. Since this was the only landmark that I am familiar with and would know how to drive to, I suggested that we just meet at the Rover showroom at 12 noon.
I didn’t get lost driving 25 miles from Hayward to San Jose, aided with Tomtom the GPS.
I was there in 40 minutes.
The first thing that Bessie said was “Annie ikaw ba talaga yan, ikaw ba talaga yan?” After 10 seconds, she asked me again, so I answered “Ako ito”.
Dito pa kami sa loob ng showroom nag picture-taking.
They didn’t want to go to Thaipoon, the restaurant beside Land Rover. There’s another place that’s better than this one according to them.
I rode with them.
Allen drove maybe two miles, closer to Santana Row.
The place seemed authentic and nice.
They seemed to be familiar with this place so I let them do the ordering. I eat anything naman.
Allen ordered sweet and sour shrimps.
He also ordered beef fillet with oyster sauce. Masarap siguro kasi Allen finished this. I didn’t taste this though. I was happy with the fried rice and sweet and sour shrimps.
Allen is very soft spoken. He works at Caltrain and is planning to retire next year and just be a full time driver to his darling wife. Bessie is a Dentist by profession.
According to Bessie, Allen is so mabait, parang santo and he spoils her.
Bess ate so little. She’s watching her figure.

They dropped me off at the Rover parking lot where I left my vehicle.
Bessie gave me lots of goodies, she baked that morning especially for me. She’s really very kind and thoughtful.
I drove back with the help of Tomtom. I didn’t get lost but I was hit by the Friday traffic along 880 although it was only 3:20 pm. Traffic naman was moving medyo slow lang in some parts of the freeway. That’s not the kind of EDSA traffic wherein we’re in a standstill and inch by inch ang takbo.
There were so many big trucks running at 55 mph maximum speed. I tried to avoid them kasi baka matumbahan ako ng container.
I arrived before 5 pm. Aileen was surprised with the cookies and bread. Ang dami daw.
We started eating some of them. Hmm sarap, with fresh pineapple shake. Pampataba!!!
