The last time we were in Carmel was in 2010 when we watched the US Open. I was able to buy two sets of gorgeous looking teacups and saucers at this quaint store. I asked Edmund to drop me off on the road and come back after half an hour.
As soon as I entered the store, a pretty Spanish or Brazilian looking lady greeted me with a full smile. I asked where the teacups were, she said they no longer carry those items. I saw a few on the display window but apparently, those were just props and not what they were selling.
She caught me in my weakest moment, vulnerable, looking for teacups (hehehe).
She asked me to sit down. “Since you’re already here, I’d like to show you something that Sophia Loren developed”. I wonder if the famous Italian actress Sophia Loren indeed developed this beauty line.
She applied a tiny amount of cream below my left eye. Then she showed me the before and after. My skin below my left eye looked straighter while my skin below my right eye was still wrinkly. It looked like my wrinkles have disappeared in an instant. However, I felt a strong pull, parang hinihila ang balat ko which was irritating actually. Then she applied another kind of cream on my left eyelid, she dried it with an electric fan, then put a mirror in front of my face to see the effect. My eyelid was instantly pulled up. Before and After— I noticed the difference. It was like a magic wand.
She then noticed that my hands were wrinkly, scaly, and skin was ultra dry. She applied another cream on the back of my hand. The cream turned into parang pieces of tiny dirt, similar to rubber pencil erasers. Then she rubbed those pieces against my skin, supposedly those were my dead skin. Then she applied moisturizer over it, counted one two three four five six and the dead skin was gone. My skin looked soft and subtle compared with my left hand which looked old and wrinkly. She then applied the moisturizer on the back of my left hand and counted one two three four five six seven eight nine, the moisturizer was still on my hand, I could still see the white liquid. This she said was due to the non-absorbent skin that I have. Since it didn’t have the dead skin remover, the moisturizer was rejected by my skin. Contrary to the right hand where my skin instantly absorbed the moisturizer. Grabe ang galing nyang magsales talk. When she found out I was from the Philippines, she said she’s been there last year, stayed for three months all around the islands promoting their products and working with Vicky Bello and her team.
Who wants her skin to look subtle? ME!
Who wants her eyes to stop drooping? ME!
Who wants to look younger? ME!
Who wants to pay $1,000 for a bottle of cream? NOT ME!
When she sensed some hesitation, she changed tactic. She said TODAY, TODAY ONLY, I get 50% off due to the US Open promo. Face cream $500, moisturizer $150, dead skin remover $150, eyelid tightening $150, down from the $300 regular price. For my neck fats, there’s a machine and a treatment program separate from the skin products. I need to set an appointment daw with their skin specialist.
I can order online she said but I have to pay full price. I told her I really want my wrinkles to disappear but I don’t believe those products would do the trick. She was observant and along the way she pretended to be engaging in some friendly talk but actually, she was gauging my capacity to pay, lifestyle, and impulsiveness. She said my decision was not about the money because I was wearing a nice watch. I was wearing tsinelas.
She told me the $1,000 face cream would last for a year. How can it last for a year? Once a week lang daw ilalagay sa mukha at konti lang. I personally don’t believe that. That claim is to make buyers feel good that even if you pay a thousand bucks, that is good for a year. Ah ah. I don’t believe. A face cream to be effective must be used daily and consistently. Look at my face. I don’t apply cream on a regular basis kaya hayan puro kulubot na.
I seriously don’t mind buying an expensive cream but it has to be tried, tested, and dapat siguradong effective.
After about 15 minutes, balik na uli yung wrinkles ko sa eyelid.
