This is Oryx Rotana Hotel, our home for one night.
Check in counter, we were each given separate rooms.
A giant vase with desert rose was displayed at the counter. We thought it was some kind of stone or rock.
This pretty lady was playing the piano when we arrived.
Our one night stay and the shuttle were provided free of charge by Qatar Airways because of the long lay-over to our next flight. 16 hours. I thought this route was chosen by the travel coordinator because it’s shorter and more convenient.
Premium class passengers were brought to the 5-star Oryx while our dozen companions who were in the economy were in a different hotel and they rode in a different shuttle.
Even after an hour, the pianist was still playing the piano, non stop. I wondered if she wore black and white everyday to match the color of the grand piano and the hotel lounge’s color scheme.
My room, hotel #555. Oyen, Nyke, and Nadine Chua were on the fourth floor, in different rooms.
I realized that our hotel was just outside the airport’s perimeter fence.
