Our Dog Lucy attacked Antonia

September 11, 2018 Tuesday

Lucy, our 10 year old dalmatian dog attacked Antonia and bit her right arm.

Lucy bit Antonia

Oyen and I were in the office when our other maid Norma frantically called. Lucy bit Antonia and there’s lots of blood. That was all she could say.
She passed the phone to Antonia and naturally if you were bitten by a big dog, you would panic and freak out. Oyen couldn’t understand what Antonia was saying. She was hysterical and incoherent.

Yen contacted Edmund who was in a nearby restaurant about to take his late lunch. He ran to the house and dressed Antonia’s wound. He poured alcohol on her wound and naturally she wailed in pain.

I called up our other maid Nor to get additional information.
A—-‘Anong nangyari?”
Nor—–“Mam, i kinagat ni ate Antonia si Lucy”.

Edmund brought Antonia to the hospital. They dressed the wound again and gave her anti-tetanus shot. She was also given antibiotics.

According to Jocelyn, the other maid who personally saw what happened, the box of lanzones arrived and the delivery man left the box outside of our gate. She and Antonia went to pick it up. Jocelyn was facing the street, her back against the garage, while Antonia was holding the other end of the box, her back against the street, she was facing Jocelyn and the garage.
Apparently, Lucy was standing beside the gate. Jocelyn was the first who entered the gate backwards. When Antonia entered the gate while carrying the other end of the box, Lucy growled and attacked her right arm.

Antonia— “Mam, ingat na ingat ang mama ko na hindi ako masugatan nung maliit pa ako, ang kinis ng balat ko, kung kailan ako tumanda at saka ako magka peklat, si Lucy, mainit ang ulo”.

Ayaw paawat, she was eager to relive the moment. She was telling me what happened in detail. Kawawa naman si Antonia. She had anti-rabies injection the next day. She’ll have a few more.

This was the box Jocelyn and Antonia were carrying when Lucy attacked.

My daughter knows I love lanzones so she bought a huge box for me. When I opened the box, almost half were almost bulok na.
One big box of Lanzones

She also bought ten kilos of mangosteen for her dad. Pressure eating ang dami nito. I sent 20 pieces to our neighbor Wash.

There are several conspiracy theories depending on who’s talking:
1. According to Sgt. Pepper, Antonia always tells Lucy hindi na ikaw ang favorite, si Hugo na. Sgt. Pepper thinks Lucy understands and remembers what Antonia says to her so nainis na daw si Lucy.
2. According to Antonia, Lucy has been in a bad mood lately. She had her period two weeks ago. Lucy, not Antonia.
3. According to Jocelyn, Lucy is a very jealous dog. She probably thinks Antonia is trying to take away the box from Jocelyn so Lucy bit Antonia.
4. Oyen brought Lucy and Hugo to the dog behaviorist today. He said Lucy didn’t recognize Antonia when she entered the gate so Lucy attacked her.

I suggested to Edmund to transfer Lucy to the farm. Kaya lang baka naman mamatay lahat ng manok ko, habulin nya at kagatin. He suggested to bring her naman to the place where we park the vehicle inventory. Delikado naman dun. The security guard there used to be the security guard here at our house, nilipat dun. He and Lucy know each other according to Edmund.
Parang kawawa naman si Lucy duon. Baka sya masagasaan when drivers move the vehicles just like what happened recently to the guard dog there. Edmund bought two dogs and they were named Obama and Trump. Namatay yung isa, nasagasaan. And guess who that was— si Trump.

Lucy is still here, not showing any remorse, as if nothing happened. I am taking extra precaution to avoid any accidental scratching or biting. Before I open the door to the garage, the dogs are put in temporary holding rooms so they can’t jump on me. I also call out their names, hi Lucy, Hugo, Jack. They recognize my voice, so they know it’s me. When I arrive, the same routine. I wait till the dogs are holed up in the rooms and pens while I cross from the car to the lobby in the garage. Medyo hassle but this I have to live with because my daughter and husband love dogs. Big and small.

  1. Hi Anne

You may want to consider sending Antonia to RITM for the vaccinations. Am a dog owner and has been bitten thrice and I go to RITM since it is considerably cheaper. In my experience, the queieing system is not that bad, just don’t go on a Monday. Be early like 7am since people starts lining up by then and they start attending to patients even before 8am.

It’s skyway all the way, exit filinvest. It’s a few meters away from the toll exit. It did not cost me more that 3k I think for the entire process.

    1. Hi, Edmund had already paid for all the succeeding injections of Antonia including the 24 antibiotics.
I did mention to him about RITM. I hope there’s no more next time, but if it happens again, we’ll certainly consider going to RITM instead.
      Thank you.

    1. Hi,
We don’t have a dog named Digong. My husband is planning to buy one male pure bred border collie to mate with Cali and Jersey.
He is planning to buy a German Shepherd in a few months. I honestly don’t think neither of this dogs would be named Digong.
