P90,000 plates in Rustan’s

Oyen entered my name in a contest or promo. After 3 months, I was given what looked like an ATM or credit card with P7,750 pesos in it. I can only spend up to that amount or else the card would be declined.

Oyen reminded me that the points could only be used up to March. I totally forgot about it. Last week, I noticed the card was in my wallet and suddenly remembered that the redemption period was expiring.

I went to Rustan’s Department Store at the Shangri-la Mall two nights in a row trying to find something to buy and cherish with the P7,750.

It’s always a delight browsing over Rustan’s high-end merchandise. It could however give mixed results. You could get depressed if you fall in-love with something that’s not within your reach. You could get entertained by mere looking at their beautiful and unique items. Careful though not to bring children or clumsy adults.
Remember: if you break it, it’s sold. Yung mga himatayin pag nabibigla, wag pumunta dito at baka dito ka matumba eh mabagsakan mo yung mga mamahalin na gamit, lalo kang himatayin pag pinabayaran sayo. Matuluyan ka pa.

Cristal d’ Paris, Made in France. This reminded me of our drinking glasses in Binangonan when I was still little.
Ang alam ko my mom bought her stuff from Divisoria, pero yun yung mga nasa boxes and nicely displayed and packaged. Hindi sa bangketa. Baka Made in France yun ah, sayang. Wala pang maraming made in China nung araw.

I was almost done browsing when I suddenly spotted this dinner plate set. Eto, this is what I will buy.
I grabbed the dinner plate.
Me——– “Miss, magkano eto? walang price, pwede ba ito individual, eto lang plates?”

Sales Lady— “Mam, P90,000 plus”
Me———– Ha? Ninety thousand? Set yun good for 100 people?
Sales lady— Mam set na ho yan, may cup and saucer, salad plate, yan ho lahat good for one person

Dyos ko, muntik ko ng mabitawan yung plato, kung hindi nagbayad ako ng nubenta mil. Baka nabugbog ako ng asawa ko.
Imagine kung good for 12 persons eh mahigit isang milyon na.

Me———– Miss, sayang gusto ko pa naman, ang mahal pala. Eto na lang, magkano ito?
Sales lady— Mam, pareho rin ho, ninety thousand.
Me———- Nanay ko po.

If you have a lot of money flowing from the faucet, you could easily spend two million pesos here in a few minutes.
Makauwi na nga, baka hinahanap na ako ng asawa ko.

I went back the next day, this time looking for spoon and fork naman.
I went first to Rustan’s concierge to make sure that the points given to me are still valid. Yes indeed, it has P7,750.

Okay, I can go shopping. Give-up na sa plates, kubiertos naman.

They’re 16,000+ less 40% discount for a set of six with matching forks, knives, dessert spoon.
Aside from the P7,750 award I have, Edmund gave me a P4,000 gift certificate from Rustan’s that he won from a golf tournament.
So pwede ko ng bilhin itong mga kutsara. I took a picture of these two spoons and sent to Oyen for her comments but I couldn’t contact her. I told the sales lady to reserve it na lang muna.

Then I saw these silver plated set. Wow, it looks very much like what we used to have 15 years ago. Binili ko rin sa Rustan’s.
Coincidentally, Oyen asked me a week ago where were they now. Nawala na nga, isa-isang naglaho. Meron isang piraso natira pero kaskas na yung silver.

Okay, eto na lang. I’ll buy this, kahit good for 6.

Me——– Miss, eto na lang, parang mas gusto ko ito. Meron ba itong box? Good for how many persons isang set?”
Sales Lady— Mam, sold invidividually ho. Yung price ay para sa isa.
I looked at the price attached to the dinner spoon P7,995.
Dyos ko, para sa isa lang? Wala pa yung tinidor at kutsarita. Kung good for 12 people eh isang milyon din aabutin.
Grabe, mag kamay na lang tayo.

I bought a little decoration for my sister.

I was happy with what I have found for Aileen, and I was entertained by the many nice things I’ve seen even if I could never have them. I still would like to have that Gnori plates and silver spoons. Maybe in my next life.
