A big bus and a female Greek tourist guide picked us up from the airport. After 30 hours of traveling I must admit that I was already grouchy and not in my best mood. I was irritated when I found the bus seats too cramped. There are big tourist buses that have more leg room and this bus is not in that category. Sikip na sikip ako. Nung mag boyfriend pa lang kami ni Edmund, gustong-gusto ko yan para dikit na dikit kami, pero ngayon, ang sikipppp!
The tour guide drove us around the city and I was secretly wishing to see our hotel bed right away. At this point, I wasn’t interested yet to see what historic Athens offer, all I wanted was to stretch on a comfy bed in an airconditioned room.
We made a quick stop at the Panathenaic Stadium or Killimarmaro. This multi-purpose marble stadium is owned by Hellenic Olympic Committee. It was built on a racehorse track in 330BC to host the Panathenaic Games. It was rebuilt in marble in 144 AD. It was abandoned for hundreds of years. It was excavated in 1869, used in 1870 and 1875 for the Zappas Olympics. It was renovated for the Olympics games in 1876 and again in 2004.
