More distant relatives, school mates, classmates and batch mates, neighbors, Facebook friends, know-thy-mates, have died recently.
People are dying every week.
I just came from a wake in Binangonan a couple of days ago. She was only 53.
Two days later, a batch mate of mine passed away. He’s been sickly the past two years, tila kidney. This morning, a relative of ours, uncle of my brother in law Bong, passed away. He must be in late 60s. Pasakit-sakit na rin sya. Meron ding isa pang namatay, only in his 50s. Merong naka motorcycle, nabangga sa highway, ano pa eh di thrown away in peace.
The other day, I didn’t know whether to give abuloy or not. Flowers plus abuloy eh medyo malaki rin. Especially if people are dying every week. Kailangan merong abuloy budget. How much does that translate to yearly budget? Wow, ang laki.
When I give cash to the family, I couldn’t help but think, saan kaya mapupunta yung abuloy ko? Cash kasi yun. Shall I bring a voucher and make the relatives sign? Dapat ba yan may withholding tax?
Is abuloy tax deductible? That’s in cash and walang resibo ah. Mahigpit ang BIR. Dapat laging may resibo. “Excuse me Deadsie, please sign this voucher, do you have a newly printed receipt registered with the BIR?”
This morning I told Edmund that people are dying every week.
A——-“Tart, meron na namang tiga Binangonan na namatay”.
E——-“Ang daming namamatay ah”.
THANK YOU for making us laugh and smile and feel good with ur daily anecdotes.. 😉 God bless u..

Thank you for posting your thoughts online! 🙂
Life is so fleeting. I thought of this too last year. Parang sunod2 mga kakilalang namamatay. Pero pinoys can still look at the bright side, like you do. 🙂
That abuloy budget got me thinking too. And if it’s taxable or not. 😛
Thank you for visiting my blog. Regards.
