Instead of accompanying Edmund to the 18th birthday of Chino Raymundo’s triplet girls in Rockwell, I went to the Tower Club instead to attend the Xmas party of the Philippine Council of Management (Philcoman). I already missed their annual convention in November so there’s no way I would snob this group where I sit as Vice President. I am supposed to be the incoming president but I keep on postponing my acceptance because I don’t know how I would be able to handle such big responsibility, aside from my other activities, plus my day jobs, and night jobs! Add also ohmybuhay and my not-doing-anything days.
Oops, so quiet, Is the venue here?
There was no one and no noise at all. I thought I went to the wrong place.
I saw Rey Carpio’s name next to mine but there was a young and pretty girl occupying his seat. I thought she was probably Noli’s niece.
She was a little curious about me maybe because of the way I was introduced by Prof. Noli and acknowledged by Dr. Voltaire Victoria as a dignitary. (Voltz, mali, wala akong dignidad).
She asked about my age, eh alam mo naman kung gusto mo akong mainis, tanungin mo ang edad ko. I told her she and my daughter probably are of the same age. She’s 27 daw.
She kept on referring to the Lord, and she twice said “before God discovered me”.
Pretty Girl ———– “I came from a dysfunctional family”.
A————– “Define dysfunctional”.
She said her parents were always fighting, as in world war talaga. History:
Visayan teenage girl got pregnant by pure blooded conservative Chinese 12 years her senior. They got married. Had three children. Pure Chinese guy had many rules, which young wife resented. She was very young, gusto mga gimmick pa, she rebelled, boyfriend here and there, became a drug addict. The husband eventually had girls here and there.
Their daughter, this pretty girl, became a wreck, took drugs, and one day, she had an overdose, almost died, and a miracle happened. She snapped out of her misery, turned to Bible studies, and here she is. A budding entrepreneur, happily living with her parents that have been on a truce for the past 5 years. They are living together in peaceful co-existence in the same house, in the same room and bed, travel together with their children,e at out together. That’s good, right?
Pretty girl said her father doesn’t want her to get married because she’s his baby daw. That’s bad, right?
We had a lot of food. Someone teased Professor Noli, parang walang Yolanda.
Rey Carpio arrived about half hour later.
He was the life of the party, singing, dancing, and he brought along a group of dance instructors, including this young lady student from Centro Escolar University.
Basta yung mga sexy at magaling sumayaw, mga D.I. sila from Savannah.
