No matter how much the Filipinos believed that President Benigno Aquino Jr. would do a better job than any presidential hopeful, no matter how you disliked the names that are propping up as presidential wannabes, we should not change the constitution by giving way to Pnoy’s re-election via chacha.
We put a limit to a president’s term during Cory Aquino’s presidency to avoid and prevent people getting so used to the trappings of power, ayaw ng umalis sa Malacanang.
Okay, we all trust and believe that Pnoy is trustworthy and not corrupt. So we will give him another term. Eh how about if the next president after him is an asshole, corrupt, stupid, etc. Mag Pinoy chacha again. We will change na naman the constitution to prevent him from seeking for another term? We cannot do that, we cannot keep changing our laws to suit our present situation. Dapat our constitution must remain constant.
The 6 years term is made SHORTER by people who talk about the election too early too soon. Parang bukas na ba ang election. First two years of the new president, eh busy, pag-aralan lahat ng bagay, tapos yung last two years naman, puro election na ang mga pinag-uusapan.
Huwag na kayong mag-chacha. Ang mabuti pang gawin natin, ibukas ang mga mata at talasan ang mga pag-iisip. Himayin ng husto ang buhay, ugali, kakayahan at motibo ng mga taong nag-aambisyong maging presidente. Huwang nyong paniwalaan agad agad ang sinasabi nilang serbisyo sa bayan, hinihingi ng taong bayan. Gustong maglingkod, etc. Huwag paniwalaan ang mga commercial nila sa telebisyon, huwag madala sa ngiti nila at litrato na kasama at mga naka-akap sa kanilang mga pamilya. Look beyond the superficial. Ang simpleng katotohanan, ambisyon lang talaga nila na maging makapangyarihan.
