We should have full stomachs before leaving for Ateneo or else we would not make it till the end of the commencement exercises. Alam naman natin ang mga schools here, they don’t take into consideration what time they should finish so that families could make it to their own dinner celebrations.
I couldn’t help but compare. There’s such big difference. When my son was graduating from high school in Xavier, the date was set a few weeks before.
The ceremony ended at 8 pm. I kept on texting our guests to come at 7, ay hindi pala, 7:30 na lang, ay 8:30 na lang. We had dinner at almost 10 pm.
Right after we paid for Oyen’s first semester tuition fee in college, Fordham sent us a small thick paper. Printed were all the schedules of the school years, from first year to fourth year. The exact date of her graduation was also there. So 4 years away pa, we already knew when the actual graduation ceremony would be. Unlike dito sa atin, one month na lang eh hindi pa alam.
By 6 pm, Fordham’s ceremony was done. Kaya we were at the restaurant in Manhattan in time for dinner. Not for midnight snack.
From those experiences, we made sure we ate a full lunch before getting ready for Loyola.
I cooked corn soup. I bought the corn from Tagaytay.
This is a very easy dish. I mixed it with whatever we have in the ref.
Carrots, spring onion, garlic, shallots, chicken stock, patis, salt, pepper.
Scallops, I sliced them in half to make them thinner. I sauteed in truffle oil, garlic, shallots, salt and pepper, one table spoon of butter.
pan grilled rib eye, salt and pepper, one tablespoon of soy sauce.
The dress I wanted to wear was palpak. So last minute change, into a simpler and more comfortable British India cotton dress. Para comfing-comfy, parang daster lang.
