I attended a short cooking demo by Paris-based food creative and star of the BBC show, The Little Paris Kitchen, Rachel Khoo. She’s young and very pretty, a dead-ringer of Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner in person.
I had no idea who this pretty girl was until yesterday. I just happened to be at Williams-Sonoma in Columbus Circle the day before and I saw the announcement. I haven’t seen her show on cable, probably it’s not broadcast in Manila.
She seemed genuinely nice and bubbly.
She was born in London in 1980, with Malaysian-Chinese father and an Austrian mother.
She moved to Paris and went to Le Cordon Bleu for a 3- month patisserie course.
Navarin d’agneau Printanier (Spring Lamb Stew)
Bouillon de cassoulet avec des boulettes de canard et saucisse de Toulouse
(Cassoulet soup with duck and toulouse sausage dumplings)
Nahingal na ko pag type pa lang ng pangalan nitong dish na ito, ano pa kaya kung lulutuin ko. Tila easier to just go to a French Restaurant).
There were about 40 people crowding the kitchen island when I arrived at Williams-Sonoma at 4:50 pm. The numbers grew to probably 80.
She prepared three kinds of dessert using the same basic ingredient Creme Patissiere.
You can mix it with any fruit you like.
This couple had their book signed under both their names. I overheard them saying that they’re still trying to perfect their macarons.
Some had several books signed for their friends, mother, wife.
A book costs $35 plus tax.
The book is a wedding gift to her best friend.
She asked if the book is for me, and if I cook. It took a few seconds before I responded to the second question kasi how could I tell her I rarely cook. I just sit down at the table and eat. Her book might just inspire me to whip up some French cuisine.
My daughter dropped by to say Hi. She came from Fordham.
She left after a few minutes to join friends for dinner and movie.
