I was so upset the other day after reading the article of Dr. Tyrone M. Reyes featured in the Health & Family Lifestyle section of the daily newspaper Philippine Star.
He warned of radiation risks from medical imaging.
I was deeply upset because 3 days prior, I just had teeth panoramic x-ray upon the instruction of our family dentist, Dr. Beth Carrasco. After she has extracted half of my cracked tooth, I realized that the x-ray only provided her with a validation of what she already knew. It was actually completely unncecessary. Beth, a very good and experienced dentist, already knew what needed to be done to my tooth and she could have done that without the need for the xray which exposed my body to radiation risks, cancer risks.
I was extremely bothered because both my children have had several of that teeth x-rays in the past.
I told my children NEVER to sbmit themselves again to teeth panoramic xray. N E V E R again.
I mentioned this to Beth and she said they, the dental association, haven’t issued a circular or warning with regards to the teeth xray. And she promised to get hold of the article and would discuss the issue to their association. Beth has been an active officer of this professional and respected institution for many years.
