Oyen forwarded to me the link to the Napa Valley Truffle Festival. She knew I would travel miles and miles to find truffles.

My sister and Bong had invited me earlier to go with them to Las Vegas for the Martin Luther King long weekend but I decided to stay put because I had many things to do. But when I found out about the truffle festival, I immediately registered. I invited my niece to come and join me for a day trip to Napa Valley.

I bought two tickets and since they were priced a-la-Michelin-star, my expectations were of course filled with stars too.

The Truffle Festival lunch would be at Raymond Vineyards in St. Helena. The event started with a short tour of their small herb garden and an introduction to their vineyards.
The new owner of Raymond Vineyards, French vintner and multi-awarded entrepreneur, Jean-Charles Boisset, owns and operates 24 wineries spread in Burgundy, Beaujolais, the Rhône Valley, the South of France, Napa, Sonoma and Monterey, California, and Quebec, Canada. He was there too, greeting everyone “Hi” including me and my niece Kayleen. He seemed to be very friendly and was interacting and chatting with his guests the whole time.

Here are some of my photos:

They have several chickens and goats. According to the usherette, they harvest 36 eggs daily during summertime. Buti pa sila, kami we have more chickens and yet we rarely get to harvest eggs. Bakit kaya?

The owner, Jean-Charles Boisset, also called by his initials JCB, is known to be flamboyant and theatrical. This explains the presence of giant chairs and candelabras on the property. They are nice actually, good for photo ops.
