Refrain from saying Stupid

It’s easy to utter negative words like stupid when we are mad. The tremendous problem that came this year to my family challenged my sanity and character.
After several months of seething with anger and disbelief, comes compassion and understanding. My reaction to people making mistakes have changed. I now cringe when I hear people say stupid or bobo naman or madaling maloko, mahina ulo. Tanga ba sya? Ang dali naman nyang naniwala. If the source of the outbursts are people close to me, I call their attention. I ask them to refrain from judgmental comments like that. The stupidity, thoughtlessness of our actions, the lapses in judgments could happen to anyone, even to me.
Our brain cells could malfunction and churn out a string of bad judgments no matter how smart we are.

Simple illustrations:

1.

A———–“Manika Branch”.
Driver —–“Manok Brainch”.
A———–“Ma-ni-ka Branch”.
Driver——“Ma-nyu-ka Brains”.

Refuse the urge to say hay naku he is stupid. No, he is not bobo, bingi lang.

2. I was visiting a patient in the hospital. We’re looking for room 316. There were two arrows pointing in opposite directions.

Security——“Mam, dito tayo (to the right).

I stopped and looked at the arrows. Room 316 is to the left.
I ignored him and I continued walking towards the left corridor.

Security—–“Mam, dito tayo, stretching his right arm, pointing to the opposite direction.

A——“Dito nakaturo ang arrow sa kaliwa.
Security——“Hindi mam, nasa kanan”.

I ignored him na lang. Again, I refused to think that he is not bright. Of course not, magiging Philippine Marines ba yan kung kulang sa IQ? He’s smart, except that, malabo ang mata.
