part 3 of Colorful Class Reunion - Oh My Buhay

part 3 of Colorful Class Reunion

A handpainted Filipiniana terno is displayed at the lobby of the Binangonan Convention Center where we held our high school class reunion.

I think this was one of the entries in a contest held last year.

We started our party at 7 pm.  Sarry led the invocation:

Invocation by Sarry

Sarry also went to the University of Santo Tomas and for a few years, we stayed in the same dorm.
She was my adviser when it comes to suitors.
She told me that I should say “yes” na to a suitor kasi it’s going to be end of the world na. Kawawa naman daw. I followed her advise, kaya nagka boyfriend ako. Hayun, when my mother found out, hinimatay sya sa galit.

Eden could give actress Angel Locsin a run for her money.  Para talaga syang baliw.

They found him funny. I tried to ride in their laughter but I didn’t find his jokes (lyrics) funny. Hindi talaga ako matawa. It’s either his jokes are so corny or I am kj.

Around 8 pm, someone entered the party hall and my classmates, including Sarry, recognized him right away. “Ay si Mister Fulgencio”.

Me naman, I thought he was one of my batchmates. I wanted to ask, asan ang bayad mo? Teacher pala namin yun. I didn’t even know. Anong subject kaya?

How come I am the only one who doesn’t remember names of classmates and teachers. How come my classmates could recognize even an 80+ year old former teacher of ours. Ibang-iba na ang hitsura pero kilala pa rin nila. They also talk about the subjects, anong oras ang classes namin, the tests, and situations during our high school days. How come I don’t remember any of those things?

Even school programs, parang wala akong matandaan. pati mga homework namin, hindi ko matandaan. Kaya naman pala sadsad ang grades ko. I didn’t do homeworks. I am a bad example to students. The only assignment that I remembered doing was when I was in fourth year. Our adviser, Mrs. Natividad Patag (sumalangit nawa), required us to bring basahan to school.

The next morning before going to school, bigla kong naalala. I told my father “Pa, pinagdadala po kami ng basahan ni Mrs. Patag”.
Papa——– “Basahan ba? Saan daw gagamitin” Bakit, wala bang basahan sa kanila?”
Me———- “Basta po sabi basahan”.
Papa——– “hayan, kunin mo”.

I wrapped the basahan in a piece of newspaper. Hindi pa uso plastic bags.
In class, we were called by Mrs. Patag to come forward and give to her the basahan. Pag dating sa akin, when she opened the dyaryo, she got so mad.

Mrs. Patag——- “Ano bang klaseng basahan yan? Ang pangit naman nyan. Ganyan ba ang basahan sa inyo?”
She didn’t accept it. She dropped it on the table and didn’t even want to touch it. She also gave me a condescending look.

When I came home that afternoon:
A————- “Pa, hindi po tinanggap ng teacher yung basahan, mababa po ang grade ko. Ang pangit daw”.
Papa———- “Meron bang basahan na maganda”.
A————- “Gamit na daw po”.
Papa———- “Hindi naman sinabi na kailangan bago, basta basahan kamo”

After four years in high school, I only remember two things. My school’s name and my name. That’s it.

And what dapakpak is that? Kala ko lahat ng batchmates ko menopause na.
