I was lucky to get a ticket to Ricky Martin’s last concert day on July 2. (He”ll be back in September). Tickets were sold out for July 1 and there were only 3 seats available for July 2. I grabbed one.
The concert was at 8 pm and from 6 pm to 6:45 I was frantically trying to access my Uber app but for some reason it didn’t want to connect. It couldn’t locate my pick up point. The Filipino restaurant where I had an early supper before going to the concert was very unhelpful. My battery was dying and I asked if I could charge my phone. Wala daw silang chargers. True, wala akong makitang saksakan. I asked if she could call a taxi for me. Hindi daw nila pwedeng gawin yun.
Wala ba daw akong phone. I said I am only visiting, I don’t know the phone number and my battery is dying. The most she could do is lend me their land line. I was really in panic. It’s 6:49 pm and I was advised to be at the box office an hour before the concert.
There was a group of Filipina women eating at the table to my right. I asked if they have a charger, wala daw. I asked if they know where I could get a cab, hindi daw. I told them I am going to be late to Ricky Martin’s concert.
One Filipina answered—– “Aba may concert pala si Martin Nievera dito. Saan daw?” I corrected her “Ricky Martin”.
She said “Martin? Si Martin Nievera nga.
I was in panic, and it was not the proper time to encounter something like that. My sense of humor was at its lowest point. Hindi sya nakakatuwa. Ang bilis kong napikon.
One of her companions asked me, hindi ka ba tiga dito?. Hanggang kailan ka etc.
No, I am only visiting. Meron lang akong pinuntahan banda duon sa lugar na yon. This week pupunta ako sa Bay Area.
The other woman said “Saang area yan?”
She said she’s from California. Eh bakit hindi nya alam ang Bay Area?
She added “meron palang Bay sa Las Vegas”.
Hindi ko alam pero mainam siguro na before the US visa interview eh me IQ test muna.
