When my sister left, I stayed in Vegas for 9 more nights. Since my stay was longer than the usual tourists/ visitors, there were very few hotels that had available rooms for 9 consecutive nights.
It was my first time in Rio. It’s not on the strip and it’s very old. It’s huge and in fairness, it must have been very impressive when it newly opened.
The ground floor is sprawling and the rooms are also spacious, good enough for 4 people except that it’s old as in OLD. My room is on the 24th floor and has a view but it makes me dizzy looking out because the full glass window has a dark protective sun screen. Nakakahilo.
The downside of staying in a hotel casino is I have no choice but to pass through the gambling or gaming floor to access the elevator going up to my room. all casino resort hotels around the world are designed this way to capture every visitor’s interest. They make it hard for any one to resist dropping a dollar or a penny to play and LOSE money.
Slot machine
When I went to the UPS office to pick-up my boarding pass, I was surprised to discover the huge convention center on the other wing of the hotel. It’s really huge, bigger than Megahalls.
Kung anong ingay at gulo dun sa casino area, dito naman walang tao at super tahimik.
My sister checked me in online and emailed my boarding pass to this UPS store located at the hotel. The conveniences of present technology.
Paalis na ako bigla kong napansin itong giant slot machine called Colossal Diamonds. Ang laki. In front of it is a security counter with two uniformed guards, one of them is a Filipino and the other one is white. I asked them, how long have they been sitting there, how many years have they been working for Rio and assigned at that same spot.
Matagal na, yung filipino tila 7 years na. I asked them, in all those years, and the time they sit there day in and day out, have there been any instance when someone hit the jackpot or won at least a thousand bucks? They couldn’t answer me. See, wala pa. As in WALA. The white guy said, he saw someone left with a couple hundred, maybe $400. But how many have lost their money? He then walked closer to the machine and told me, you can drop $20 and who knows, you could win. I told him, nope. That machine is programmed to eat my $20. Goodbye.
