Edmund was here end of November. He came back after a week, with me.
We enjoyed our stay and we decided to spend the New Year celebration here with Oyen and Nyke.
We thought it would be a good time to bring the two back here.
Oyen’s last was at the Panagbenga Festival 10 years ago during her school break. Nyke’s last was when he was probably 4 years old. We stayed at the Country Club. He got so intrigued by the safe / vault in our room. He kept opening and closing it until it malfunctioned. We had to call the hotel manager who was a female to reset the password. Neither he, Edmund nor Oyen remembered that incident. Siguro ako lang ang na-stress kaya ako lang ang nakatanda.
All my son could recall during our vacations in Baguio when he was still small was that we all got sick. That was true. Edmund brought me to the emergency room two nights in a row. I had a terrible headache, fever, elevated blood pressure. Three thick blankets were not enough to arrest my shivering.
It’s amazing how our memories retain not all but a few incidents in our lives. We could not choose which among our life experiences would be embedded in our memory.
Edmund said we have to go back to Baguio with them so that any bad memory would be replaced with happy ones.
My original intention was to stay in Tagaytay from December 26-30 but my cottage house is far from finished, thanks to my contractor. It has no roof, no nothing. I, of course, scrapped this wish of spending our holiday communing with nature.
Oyen attended a wedding on December 27 that’s why the only day we could leave Manila was on December 28. Our rooms have been reserved and fully paid while Edmund was here during the Fil-Am Golf Tournament.
We left Manila at 9 am. There was some delay because of the moderate traffic in EDSA caused by two motorcycles colliding with each other. It didn’t seem serious.
I wish I could be as proud of my ABS as Derek Ramsey. It’s more seductive to wear a little sando and lift it ano? Parang patikim or tatakawin ka lang, rather than showing his whole upper body including his big masculado chest. Ang tyan ko naman ay muscovado.
Stop-over at NLEX for breakfast
We wanted to go to McDo for their delicious hashbrown eh itong driver namin magaling, lumampas kami. There’s no more McDonald’s here so we chose Henlin for the lugaw, noodles for Edmund.
This was our very first time at Henlin.
I ordered lugaw and crunchy tofu.
Arroz caldo
My husband’s favorite stop-over place.
Our driver went inside the female toilet.
The first time (Fil-Am trip) was not bad, it was novelty. Cowboy naman ako. This time, ayaw ko na pero sige na nga rin. It was banturutut. Hindi ito bagay sa beauty ko. I don’t want to stop here again please, hindi na nakakatuwa.
E—–“Lahat yata ng binibilhan natin ng mais ay buntis, pati yung sa Santa Rosa”.
After nilagang mais, tupig, tupik, tuping naman. No we don’t eat this, only Edmund.
My son and I got dizzy from the road trip. The zigzag was dizzying. I had migraine attack. The trip took longer than expected. It was 2 pm and we’re still on the road.
We went to Bencab museum but it was closed pala on Mondays. That added another 20 minutes back and forth. Another 40 minutes passed before we reached the Manor Hotel.
We couldn’t get two adjacent rooms on the fourth floor. We only got two rooms on the same floor.
Both rooms had welcome pastries waiting at the table.
The hotel placed a dozen or more picnic mats with throw pillows in the garden. Come night time, guests lazed away on the mats.
Oyen enjoys the view from the terrace.
It’s nice to be back.
