The first time it was shown, I wasn’t able to go, even the Tom Cruise movie. I missed. When I saw their advertisement, I told Edmund I wanted to go, but he was obviously not at all interested. My children were busy so no one would be coming with me. I was busy too, I wasn’t able to buy tickets for the Sunday matinee show. Then, Oyen made time for me, cutting short her dinner with high school friends.
She came home at 7:15 pm, while Edmund and I were at the dinner table, done eating but just chatting. I was still wearig daster.
I told her to give me 15 minutes.
It helped that the Meralco Theater was a short drive.
We bought tickets at the gate. It’s the last performance and there were lots of available seats.
I was hoping there would be discounts but no, same price.
Fifteen more minutes before the start of the show, we ate Shakey’s mojos first.
The only reason why I wanted to watch was to see for myself if Mig Ayesa was really good. I got more than that. The other casts were equally great. Nyoy Volante sang like Arnel Pineda. Jet Pangan’s vocal chords soared like an eagle. Magaling pala sya.
Oyen and I enjoyed the almost two hour musical. Most of the songs were familiar to me like We Built this City, I Wanna Rock, Don’t Stop Believin’, Every Rock Has its Thorn, Hit Me With Your Best Shot.
The play was fast paced, no boring scenes, they’re comedic and the medley of songs didn’t inip me. The actors were great.
I didn’t have clip kasi bawal to take photos and videos.
I was pleased with Mig Ayesa’s performance as the quirky Stacee Jaxx, the rock star / rock god.
If Rock of Ages come to Manila again, do watch it. It’s worth your time and money.
