SACHSILUUTE Kids Parade - Oh My Buhay

SACHSILUUTE Kids Parade

I arrived in Zurich Friday night and one thing that I noticed was there were a few bands marching down the streets. The hotel receptionist told me that they are celebrating the annual Sachsiluute Spring Festival and there would be a kids parade on Sunday, April 7, and a bigger parade on the following day. I thought we wee lucky to witness another country’s celebration of their 700 year old tradition, but when I found out that all the shops would be closed for two days, my excitement turned into a sad ohhhhh.

SACHSILUUTE is pronounced as sexiloyten and to simplify what it’s all about, it’s saying goodbye to winter and saying hello to spring.

My daughter and my niece Kimberly arrived around noon from the US and although they lacked sleep and were jet-lagged, I told them to come with me to watch the kid’s parade at 2:30 pm. We thought this would just be a bunch of cute kids walking down the main street holding balloons but we were totally mistaken.

The parade was impressive. There were dozens of marching bands, healthy-looking horses, adults in costumes, aside from thousands of school children looking-like angels throwing candies to the crowd. A little girl gave me a red rose.

To say that they are cute doesn’t give them justice. They are super super cute, handsome, adorable to the max. I didn’t see one single pangit dito. God was in a perfect mood when he created the Swiss people. They are all good looking.

Let’s watch the parade:

There were representations from other countries including those from Asia such as Japan, China, Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. Philippines didn’t participate.
