Sakit ng likod ko! - Oh My Buhay

Ewan ko ba kung bakit, ang sakit-sakit ng likod ko. It started last Sunday afternoon, basta na lang sumakit. Una yung sa upper left side up to my left shoulder. Then nawala ng konti. Monday, yung right side naman ang masakit.
Pero tolerable. Nung tuesday, aba dalawa na sila. Both right and left.
At first I could still bear the pain. Parang nasa loob napupunta sa chest and shoulders and arms. #backpains

Baka sa kauupo sa traffic. I went to Taft Avenue around noon, then to Greenhills, then I visited a sick person at Cardinal Santos hospital. From Wilson Avenue to the corner of Ortigas Avenue and EDSA took 45 minutes. #@$%&@@#$% lalong sumakit likod ko. I was hoping to get some rest before traveling to Angono to go to a wake. Wala na. The slower than snail traffic consumed the one hour I was hoping to use to get some rest and freshen up. Wala, naubos na ang oras ko.

I picked up Malou from Shangri-la Mall. From our house, it should only be a 7 minute ride. It took 25 minutes. Tapos just to get out of the vehicle entanglements around Ortigas center, took another hour. Yes, ONE WHOLE HOUR! I closed my eyes and tried to nap. Napi-freak out ako kasi we were going to Angono, to the wake of Ka Peping Vital. Eh anong oras na kami darating dun? At saka anong oras na kami makakabalik ng Maynila?

The pain had intensified when I got home. Maybe napagod sa oras-oras na upo sa loob ng sasakyan. Edmund was already asleep so I asked Oyen to put Vicks on my shoulder and back.

A—–Anak dun sa may taas.
O—–This is sticky. Mom, this is expired.
A—- Yah?
O—–February 2012
A—–Oh my God. Ayoko na yan. Itapon mo na.

I was in pain practically the whole night. I was in and out of sleep.
I didn’t want to bother my husband. At times I would moan. Not from pleasure but from pain. Ang sakit ng likod ko. I couldn’t stand up to go to the toilet. I couldn’t even turn on my sides. I got stuck to that one position with my back flat on the bed.

I heard Edmund turned on the tv. That must be 5 am. With my eyes still closed, I asked him to help me stand-up.
A—–“Tart, I can’t move. Ang sakit ng likod ko”.
He stood up and helped me get out of bed.

E—–“Baka stroke yan!” (Tinakot pa ako.)
E—–“Pumunta ka sa Cardinal, magpa check-up ka, magpa X-ray or MRI, baka heart attack yan”
(Talk about words of love and encouragement from dear husband).
E—–“Pumunta ka kay Doctor Palafox”.
A—–“Ayoko, hindi naman nya linya ito”.
E—–“Magpa-ECG ka, baka stroke o heart attack yan”.
Masakit lang ang likod ko. After he mentioned baka stroke o heart attack, para akong bubulagta sa nerbyos.

I was at the office the whole day.
E—–“O, anong oras ka pupunta kay Palafox?”
A—–“Hmmm…”
E—–“Pumunta ka, mag-go-golf ako”.

I went to Greenhills at 5 pm. Husband was calling.
E—–“Nakapunta ka sa Cardinal? Uminom ka ng pain reliever?”
No to both questions.
E—–“Ay”.

The pain subsided a bit. My husband went to bed ahead of me but I found his “tense” ba ang tawag dyan sa mini-gadget to massage the muscles. He placed it on my side of the bed. He used that for his facial massage when he had bell palsy. It has electrodes that electronically massages the surface muscles. The contraction stimulates the nerves.

I woke up in the middle of the night because of the intense pain. Ayan na naman. Ang sakit. Again, I occasionally moaned (not from pleasure but from pain). I could neither stand-up nor move. At 5 am, I heard the tv was on. I heard him say “tart?” He must have heard me grimacing in pain.
A—–“I can’t move, ang sakit ng likod ko”.
He stood up and walked to my side of the bed.
E—–“What do you want to do? Tatayo ka ba?”
A—–“I want to turn”.

He helped me turn to my right side.

I couldn’t move. I got stuck to that position for an hour.
8:30 am he came into the room. I opened my eyes.
A—–“Tart, bihis ka na? Can you help me, I can’t move”.
A—–“Ang sakit”.
E—–“Dadalhin kita sa nursing home”.
A—–“Ayoko. Don’t say that”.
(E hehehe)
E—–“Kailangan mo ng yaya, para meron kang tiga tayo”.
