April 10, 2017 Monday, Edinburgh to St. Andrews
Edmund hired the same guy, Russel (Crowe), to pick us up at 12 noon from Apex Hotel to bring us to St. Andrews in Fife. Russel was on the dot and he asked us if we were in a hurry to reach St. Andrews because he wanted to take the scenic drive to show us some nice places but that would entail additional 15 minutes. That was perfectly fine with us.
We left Edinburgh at exactly twelve noon and headed to where Edmund was playing golf.
Bye Edinburgh. I am not sure if I will have the desire to visit Edinburgh again in the future. This is my second visit and I am already satisfied with my experience while here. My motivation to come back the second time was to go to the Queen’s Gallery store to buy dinner plates. I went back but I didn’t buy plates. I have discovered that Harrod’s sell those plates too. So if ever, I can just go to Harrod’s. But then again, I will not say that I will not visit Edinburgh again. Never say never.
We fell asleep during the first hour of our trip. When I woke up I heard Russel saying “In case you’ve missed it, Scotland has more than 500 golf courses.. and there are 2 more coming just down the road….”
True to his words, driver Russel took us on a scenic drive, occasionally pointing at something nice. We drove by a quaint lakeside community. The streets are very narrow and the houses are made of stones.
It looks like a very serene and peaceful town.
I’ve seen several stone houses standing right on the beach with this spectacular view.
My tastes are influenced by my travels. I now find stone houses charming.
Today I am thinking should I change my mind and decide to build a small house in Binangonan for (fiesta and Holy Week purposes), it’s going to look a little bit like this stone house. There was one big adobe house in Binangonan at the corner of Paterno and Rizal Streets in Poblacion but it was demolished two years ago to give way to a grocery. The house belonged to the family of my ninang sa kumpil who emigrated to the US.
When I was little, that house looked like a fortress.
