Second morning of Honeymoon

November 14, 2017 Tuesday

On our second day of “honeymoon” in Tagaytay, I woke up at 5:30 am. I was awakened when my husband turned on the television.

I went out to the balcony to take photos of sunrise over Taal Lake. In Manila I don’t see the sunrise because I don’t go out early morning unlike my husband.

When my mother was still residing in Binangonan, occasionally when she was feeling sluggish she would ask my father to drive for her to the pritil (seaport) so she could inhale fresh air and also to marvel at the beautiful sunrise. She claimed she always felt better after inhaling the early morning seaside breeze.
Mama—-“Gumising kayo ng maaga at maglakad tayo sa baybayin. Mainam sa katawan ang sariwang hangin sa tabing dagat”.

Those hotel guests and employees were probably wondering why we had to bring our own pillows. When we checked in, when we left the next morning, when we came back at night and when we leave again the pillows stay with me. If only they could ask “bakit wala bang unan dito sa hotel?” Why? Kasi I didn’t want to leave them in the van. Qtips and Sgt. Pepper might be tempted to hug them and lay their heads on them. And why else did I bring pillows? —When we go on road trips to Tagaytay or Baguio I always bring pillows and small blankets for use while we’re on the road.

Edmund and I went down to La Veranda Restaurant at 8 am, a lot earlier than the day before.
We thought the line to get seated would be shorter. From number 4 on the first day, we were number 12 on our second day.

Receptionist—-“Mam upo muna kayo”.

I didn’t want to have the same food as I had yesterday. I got sotanghon noodle soup, dried biya, and a few langgonisa. Which is correct? Langgonisa, longganisa, longanisa. In Binangonan, I grew up hearing people say langgonisa.

Edmund didn’t like his food. He didn’t finish them and didn’t go back to the buffet tables to look for some other dishes. Me, I didn’t finish the langgonisa and biya but I went back for a second bowl of noodles.

Until now I am still used to calling this hotel Taal Vista Lodge, the original name of the old hotel bought by Henry Sy.

Our honeymoon ended today with no Olympic games happening on the bed. We checked out after breakfast and not to be left behind were our two pillows. I never let our maids and drivers carry our pillows. Ayaw kong aakapin nila or iipitin nila sa kili-kili nila. I am a little delicada when it comes to our pillows and blankets and towels. I don’t want anyone touching them.
