Weekends are super crowded time at the Petron gasoline station in SLEX. Hundreds of people going to Cavite, Tagaytay, Batangas, Quezon, stop to get gas, food, coffee, and to “teacher may I go out”.
The ladies toilet is usually clogged. Needs patience to get thru the long line.
Together with about twenty women, I was patiently waiting in line when three women one by one cut through the line and said excuse, senior citizen. When I was getting closer, like third in line, the three women were still there, standing in front of the only door marked for PWD and Senior Citizens.
One of them impatiently told the toilet cleaner, senior citizen ako, senior citizen ako, saan? Kumunot noo ko. Nakulitan ako sa kanila. I wanted to say something, pinigilan ko lang sarili ko kasi bawal makipag-away sa mga matatanda. The janitress pointed at the one and only door designated for senior citizens. And it’s locked. Someone old is inside taking her sweet time, ish ish ish ish. Two more women came, did the same thing, cut through the line expecting a VIP toilet is waiting for them.
