There was a two hour lull after our visit to St. Matthias, before our dinner also in the area. Some of us went to visit the other structures around the church, while I checked out the few quaint stores for some Hungarian-made porcelain.
I bought the blue and white cup and saucer on the right. I was able to get a small discount. I offered to pay Euro 40 which they hesitantly accepted.
These are not made by Herend, but they’re also from Hungary.
I walked farther away from the church, some 100 meters, to the cluster of quaint antique shops.
I found a store that only sells antique Herend cup and saucer. The prices made me realize that for me to go home with Herend porcelain, I have to open my wallet wide open.
They ship anywhere in the world, however, they don’t advise because it would cost a lot more. Shipping plus big insurance for breakages.
These were made by another old manufacturer from Hungary. The prices were more reasonable, though not cheap, but I could tell that the style and quality differed from that of Herend.
Pattern too dainty
I bought 4 pieces of dessert plates, white with pink borders. Asan na kaya yun? I haven’t seen it after I unloaded my maleta. I hope I didn’t leave them behind.
OMG! I am slowly falling in love with Herend whilst reading all your Herend-related posts Miss Annie. Thank you for sharing all these picture. I am really glad I was able to come across your blog.
