We were so happy when the van arrived. It was big, new, and comfortable most especially that we were only 8 people plus the driver and our guide Robert. I was glad he is a Brit. I didn’t enjoy listening to Chinese tour guides when we were in Hawaii, in New York, California, and in Australia. No offense meant but it was not pleasing to the ears. Dom pak der!
Our first destination was Windsor, an English county in Berkshire, approximately an hour away from Central London.
The van dropped us off at the parking area, on the lower section of the train station and we walked up to the Windsor Castle’s gate. The hilly town looks charming, and it’s good for a day of leisurely shopping, promenading, having coffee and just relaxing.
There were hand-painted horses situated around the train station and near the castle. The guide didn’t mention the significance of the horses to the royal family. I am just guessing they love horses.
The shortest street in UK. According to Robert, Edward VII had many mistresses and there was a tunnel from the castle to this street which the King used for his evening escapades.
