Our farewell dinner was at Smith & Wollensky steak and seafood restaurant which New York Times described as “the steakhouse to end all arguments”.
HISTORY
Alan Stillman, borrowed $5,000 from his mother to open the first T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant in Manhattan in 1965. His concept of a “singles” bar became successful he opened 13 more locations. TGIF currently has over 1,000 locations worldwide. Allan Stillman sold his stake in 1976 and opened Smith & Wollensky on 49th Street in October 1977. He randomly picked the surnames Smith & Wollensky from the NYC telephone directory.
Its success is reflected on the wall— photos of who’s who, awards, praises from critics,
Ramon Dimacali went all out. He ordered a very special menu for us.
There were several platters of lobster, big lumps of the freshest crab meat and shrimps on ice.
I ate half kilo of the most delicious crab meat. When the pea soup came, I was already half-full. The soup was too creamy and heavy. It could be a meal in itself. After a bowl, you would be too stuffed.
More crabs, I wanted to finish this crab cake but there’s no more space. I would like to go back another day to eat this.
A few tried to stay on their diet by ordering Halibut Fish.
You don’t come to Smith & Wollensky to eat chicken. You’re missing the opportunity to eat something extraordinary.
Two big slabs of filet mignon steak, each is at least two inches thick.
Dessert cart
Every where I go, I order vanilla ice cream. Be it in Paris, Africa, Hungary, Pasig, Cavite or New York!
The dinner must have cost Mon an arm and a leg. He made us feel special by buying us good dinner. Thank you to FPG Insurance.
