International traveling is fun if I take away the number of days I need to prepare and pack the right clothes and jackets. In this particular trip, Dubai is not our primary destination, France is. Two countries with opposite seasons. Winter in France and forever summer in Dubai. Our luggage is full of thick winter jackets and thermals, while we still need some summer clothes for our pre-winter sojourn in Dubai.
We’ve been to Dubai International Airport several times in the past but we’ve never seen the city, only from the sky. This is the first time that we are actually stepping on their royal grounds and hopefully we’ll enjoy our short stay.
For our hotel, Edmund was the one who picked Sofitel Dubai Downtown because of its proximity to Dubai Mall. He told me that it’s attached to the Mall. Yun pala eh hindi, it’s a kilometer walk. I was disappointed at first because it was hot outside. I don’t want to walk in unchartered territory. The hotel staff assured me that it’s so convenient and safe to walk outside, and the bonus point, shopping malls close at midnight.
Edmund booked a room with a Burj Khalifa view but where is it in this picture? It’s partly hidden. Not wanting to disappoint me, he wanted to request a change of rooms. Ayaw ko ng lumipat pagod na ako. I didn’t sleep well last night. We woke up very early for an early flight. I was too tired to move to another room. And when we were checking in the female front desk personnel dismissed Edmund’s inquiry about a room upgrade. Akala nya kasi humihingi ng libreng upgrade. She didn’t even check her computer if there was an available room with a full view of Burj Khalifa. Okay na ito. It’s nice naman and the bed looks comfortable. The view is picturesque.
I could see the hotel’s swimming pool area.
