I stepped on bubog - Oh My Buhay

I stepped on bubog

June 3, 2014
I was walking barefoot in the room. I stepped with my right foot, I screamed because it hurt so bad. Ano ba yun? I thought maybe I stepped on a broken plastic food container.
Me to Oyen——— “Anak, did we break something?”
yen—————- “No”.

When I checked what it was, I was shocked to find a triangular piece of broken glass, too big to be called bubog.

I looked around trying to figure out where on earth did that piece come from. I looked up and saw a missing glass cover on one of the chandelier lights. Aha!

I immediately called the housekeeping. In one minute, the housekeeping manager came. She asked me what happened. She was shocked too when I showed her the piece of glass.

In one minute, a big guy, about 6’3 tall, came to the room with emergency kit. He wanted to dress my wound. Naku ayaw ko nga, nahihiya naman ako. Maliit lang yung sugat, I let it bleed for a while, then I put antibiotic cream and band-aid na. Baka kasi daw there’s a piece of bubog inside.

Yen——— “Yah mam, you’re not sure”.

Dyos mio, na praning ako bigla.

After two minutes, a lady came and started vacuuming the carpet. She also gave me two pairs of slippers (tsinelases).

Long story short, my phone didn’t stop ringing. I got a call from the housekeeping night duty, then the housekeeping manager, then the emergency medical OIC who sent the big guy, then the customer service manager, then the assistant hotel manager, then the hotel manager.
I was glad it stopped there. Had the Marriott Vice President, President, Chairman of the Board called me, I would either choke from too much attention or I would get so spoiled.

When the hotel manager, Jennifer, called, she wanted to come to the room, I just told her I would meet her at the lobby. She was inviting us for a drink, or just tell her daw what they needed to do to make me happy. Whah, ohmybuhay ikaw na!

Notice my right foot, I couldn’t step or stand with my toes.

When we got back to our room that afternoon, this tray was on the table.
From the hotel daw. It had banana, green apples, kiwi, apricot, peach, strawberries, a bottle of Evian, and 8 pieces of macaroons.

Another gift: red wine, Evian water and assorted candies. I wasn’t sure if they were sending me gifts to appease me or guests staying in the family suite are really pampered like this. Either way, it’s well appreciated.

June 6- Fruits, chocolates, Evian, etc.
Every single afternoon during our stay at the Marriott Hotel they sent me something. Sobra akong spoiled. My daughter said umapak pa daw ako sa bubog.

On our last day at the hotel, a French guy came up to pick up the tray. I gave him back the can openers. He said I can keep them because they’re mine. Ang dami na kasi, everyday, they sent me one. Eh hindi na kailangan yan, pambukas ng bote di ba kinakagat lang?
