Still no cure - Oh My Buhay

We went back to St. Luke’s last Thursday afternoon because my son’s rashes haven’t improved at all. In fact, they look even worse than before.

We saw Dr. Ortigas and we asked if there’s any more tests that could be done to ascertain or establish the real cause of the red itchy rashes on his face. Wala. We did na daw the process of elimination. His blood tests only showed he’s allergic to house dust mites and cockroaches. Baka daw sa body lang, but not the ones on his face.

He said the rashes look like nummular eczema with unknown causes. I asked if there’s a test that could determine if they’re really nummular eczema. Wala daw. Yung itsura lang nya and characteristics.

The only medication he said is to take steroids in tapered dosage. My son and I felt discouraged because several dermatologists had also put him under steroids in the past and as soon as he stopped it, the rashes came back with a vengeance.

Dr. Ortigas said taking steroids is the only way. We took his prescription and left with lesser hope in our hearts than when we went there for the first time. My son and I both feel like we’re starting from scratch.

To comfort us, we proceeded to Via Mare cafe on the ground floor. We bumped into Atty. Marievic Anonuevo who was dining with her balikbayan cousin who missed luglug and Pinoy kakanin.

My son ordered Tuyo fried rice, this would be dinner na daw.

I ordered Lugaw toppings

We shared in this tokwa’t baboy.

We both had dessert
maiz ocn hielo for me

and halohalo for my son. Comfort food!

My son ordered Shakey’s pizza and mojos for his Atchi’s ‘ dinner.

Last night, my son started taking high dosage of steroids. Tonight 3 more tablets. Two more nights, 2 tablets, and on the 5th night, 10 mg. Steroids have side effects, bad ones.

Still no cure. This is so frustrating. Extremely.

  1. Have you heard of gluten-intolerance or celiac disease? As you’ve tried other things, since this is diet-related, there’s no risk in trying.

  2. Ms. Annie na try nyo na po ba ung makati med doctor Canlas? I had allegies din po for two months 2 hospital here yung navisit ko here pero parang useless. I went home for 2 weeks Sa Philippines para mag pagamot, 3days palang wala na ung allergy ko 🙂 even ung marks nawala.
    take care
