She stole her mother’s jewelry collection

We all have lost something somehow. I lost a box of jewelry to our maid. It happened over 18 years ago but to this day it still hurts. The box included Chinese gold and jade given to me by my parents when I was still a baby. Oyen’s baby jewelry, Edmund’s gold necklace from his Chinese grandma who lived in HK.

I was appalled when I heard the story of a daughter stealing from her mother. The story came from the mother herself. Mrs. Mom told me when she went to Europe to visit her son and his family, she left her vault in her bedroom unlocked, but she locked the bedroom door and hid the key. Her daughter knew where she hid it.

When she came back from her trip, 25 sets of jewelries were missing. Those were sets— earrings, necklaces, bracelets, ring. She accumulated her collection thru the years buying them in installment from a jeweler friend.
The acquisition value was P5,000,000 total. But of course the present value would be a lot more.

Not only did her daughter steal her jewelries, her daughter also took a land title and mortgaged it. Mrs. Mom’s Mitsubishi Montero was missing which she later found out isinanla pala ng anak nya. She also borrowed money from a lot of people using her supposed sick mother as an excuse. Mrs. Mom went to church one Sunday morning and her inaanak sa kasal approached her. “Ninang, pwede ba kayong makausap sandali”. She told Mrs. M that her daughter borrowed P800,000 from her for payment of Mrs. Mom’s hospitalization. Mrs. Mom said she’s in good health and had never been hospitalized and in fact she attends dance classes three times a week.

Mrs. Mom number one suspect is that her daughter is into gambling. She went to Casino Filipino in Tagaytay to check if her daughter and son in law frequented the place. She didn’t see them in the CCTV files. She thinks they most likely go to Resort World in Manila. Her second theory is that her daughter is into lending. She borrows at high interests, as much as 20 percent a month and lends them to casino players.

Mrs. Mom is selling a parcel of land to raise 3,000,000 – 5,000,000 to pay off some of her daughter’s debts to friends of their family who lent money to her daughter believing that Mrs. Mom was seriously ill.

Mrs. Mom—-“Ang lakas-lakas ko pa pinapatay na nya ako”.
Pinalayas nya anak nya. She now lives with her unemployed husband who used to be a casino floor dealer in Manila.
