First day of the Global Summit of Women was more of ministerial roundtable discussions of government officials from different countries. Topics ranged from Public/Private sector partnerships, opportunities for women and girls.
Lunch was sponsored by Caisee des Depots. We’re not included in this because it’s only open to government ministers.
I went back to the Marriott’s ballroom at 5 pm for the Opening Ceremony.

There were several delegates from the Department of Agriculture and Bureau of fisheries.

Mrs. Patricia Sison and Angel Rosales. Mrs. Sison still remembers me. We had traveled together many times before, during FVR’s time. She served in the Presidential Management Staff, and I think her husband Louie Sison was a cabinet minister during FVR or Erap’s presidency.
Angel and I met last year in Kuala Lumpur.
H.E. Atifete Jahjaga, President of Kosovo, giving VP Nguyen a translator.
Christophe de Margerie, Chairman and CEO of Total S. A. (France)
He spoke in French. He has a good sense of humor. I didn’t understand what he said but people laughed a few times during his speech, so maybe he’s funny.
I wasn’t able to get a translator, I tried getting one outside the ballroom but they were asking for my passport eh I kept it in the vault. They asked for my driver’s license, nawawala nga yung LTO license ko. I was giving my credit card, they don’t accept daw credit cards. Kaya ayun, hindi ko tuloy naintindihan ang joke nya.
Vice President of Vietnam, H.E. Nguyen Thi Doan. I wished she read a speech in English instead. Her whole department staff had a year to write an English speech for her. She had a year to practice reading it. That’s more “global” friendly.
Half of the Vietnamese delegation has Nguyen surnames.
