Two hours of sleep. Two hours at NAIA 1, 5 hours in the plane to Narita. Two hours lay-over. 13 hours flight from Narita to JFK Airport, 4 jingle breaks,
3 meals, 1.5 hours taxi from JFK to Long Island, equals Super Rayumaaaah! Wahhh, I need a full body reflexology massage, not a bumble bee stucked inside my blouse.
Some friends commented that I must love my nephew that much to go through all this trouble. Well, it’s not every year that a family member gets married in NY. And like what I’ve said before, this is also a good excuse for Oyen to visit her alma mater, meet-up with her classmates and friends. So okay lang, and besides, I haven’t been to the US for a year so it’s about time. We’re really sheduled to go to SFO this July, we just added the NY leg.

That’s neither our pillow nor our dog.
Delta business class.
Hindi kami dyan, nahinayang ako sa $5,000 per person. Kaya I just bought the Economy comfort seats– $2,000+/px. They have 4 inches more leg-room and the seats recline by 50%, pero masikip pa rin. Five years ago, tila $2,500 lang ang business class to NY, ngayon eh doble na. Parang nakakahinayang magbayad ng $10,000 for two persons, ganyang kamahal, kaya tiis na lang sa rayuma. Yung mga top executives whose employers pay for their tickets, pwede sila first class.
Other airlines siguro baka less expensive.
Spartan Food for average beings. It actually depends on your outlook. Kung feeling rich ka at VIP, medyo pa emote emote ka and would probably pity yourself while eating. Pero if it’s your first time to travel, wow, gourmet food ito!
This is the maiden voyage of my new white Victorinox carry on. Sosyal sya ha. First byahe nya sa New York New York agad.
First travel out of the shoe box din of my black Ferragamo rubber slippers, a gift from Aileen.
Two young boys helped me put it on the overhead compartment. Ang bigat kasi dahil sa lap top ko plus Oyen’s lap top.
When I first took Delta to NY, some 10 years ago, there was no Iphone yet and my phone didn’t work in Japan. Pag land ko, I wanted to call Edmund to inform him that I was already in Narita, I couldn’t figure out how to use these phones. Ako pa, eh ang hina ko sa instructions. Japanese pa mandin.
It’s really a long flight. Just two hours after we took off from Narita, biglang sumumpong ang inip ko. I felt restless. Tapos biglang kumalog-kalog pa yung eroplano. Nanay ko po. The good thing about flying Delta is when there’s a turbulence, the pilot announces “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Captain speaking. we’re passing some rough air, sorry about that. It should clear in 15 minutes or 20 the most”. At least passengers would know that it’s not going to be the end of the world. 15 minutes lang pala. But 15 minutes of shaking at 37,000 ft. above earth is still scary and feels like eternity.
You know when you’re in Japan when the lane is on the other side.
Medyo parang tigasin ang pangalan na Asakusa, kasingtunog kasi ng Yakuza.
