I woke up with so many Happy Mother’s Day greetings. And what was surprising of all was my husband texted me too, “Tart, happy mother’s day”. Aba, first time for the first time.
Edmund doesn’t believe in celebrating this day, kasi daw iyang mga Father’s Day, Secretary’s Day, Mother’s Day ay gawa-gawaan lang ng Hallmark para maraming bumili ng kanilang cards.
Eh ngayon dehins na uso greeting cards.

Sabi ko pupunta kami sa Tanay. Mainit daw, masakit ipin nya, namamaga gilagid nya at masakit likod nya. Siguro 10 years from now hindi kami makalabas kasi nawawala naman pustiso nya.

We’re too lazy to go out. But at 5 pm, I decided to have dinner out.

I looked for a restaurant near our residence but they’re fully booked na daw.
I Googled and found a restaurant named Taste of LA. I phoned them and reserved a table for three.

Ayaw ko formal, tamad akong mag-bihis, ang init.
I wore shorts and white cotton blouse.
I saw Oyen wearing long elephant pants.
Me——— “Anak, mag-shorts ka na lang, para terno tayo”.
Yen——– “But I want to wear this. I’ve been waiting for the perfect occasion….”.
Me——— “Mainit anak. If you want that, it’s okay, ako I am too casual”.
She willingly changed into shorts.

I went back to our room. Edmund was dressing up. He’s wearing a maong.
Me——— “Tart, Oyen and I are wearing shorts. Ang init kasi. It’s not formal naman. Nakalagay casual dining lang”.
Edmund—- “Di bale”.
Me——– “Tart, ang init, mag-shorts ka na lang din”.
Edmund—- “Bakit ka ba nakikialam?” he said in jest.
Me——– “Di ba ganyan ang trabaho ng mga asawa? Pakialaman ang buhay ng asawa nila?”
Edmund giggled. Then he changed his maong into a pair of sunny yellow shorts.

It’s kind of traffic in the area because the restaurants don’t have spacious parking, nakaharang ang mga kotse sa daan. It’s a long-weekend night, tomorrow being a holiday, kaya lahat yata ng tao eh nasa restos at nag-gi-gimmick.

Taste of LA is in an old house along Don Alejandro Roces Avenue behind Goldilocks at the corner of Tomas Morato Avenue in Quezon City. It’s a few blocks away from Romulo restaurant.

They gave us a tiny low table on the second floor, parang pang pica-pica lang. We asked to be moved to a regular table.

Edmund and Oyen both ordered fresh dalandan juice. Edmund said matabang daw, kasi siguro sa yelo. Konti na lang lasang dalandan.

Edmund and I both had a bowl of New England Creamy (Very Very) Clam Chowder

They look big here, but this one order of Pritchon consists of six tiny rolls of fried lechon baboy with cilantro and something else, are actually very tiny. Instead of lechon sauce, they include two tiny platitos of Hoisin sauce. They tasted good and crunchy.

Regretfully yours roasted oysters. They were overcooked.

This Salpicao took so long to arrive. Oyen did three follow ups.
Edmund and I were done eating before her order came. Tapos after she was done, here came another plate of Salpicao Rice.

Salpicao is supposed to be tenderloin tips cooked in soy sauce, pepper and lots of garlic.
Tenderloin is the best part of a cow’s meat and has no fats, but the one they served to Oyen had lots of taba which made me conclude that maybe it’s not tenderloin.

They only had puto bungbong, bibingka and Mango Jubilee for dessert which according to the waiter would take another 20 minutes. Edmund just had coffee.
