Oyen didn’t arrange for a shuttle or limo service from the airport to the Okura Hotel. I didn’t mind taking a taxi most especially in a safe place like Bangkok. The taxis are registered and monitored so no worries.
Driver was disappointed when we didn’t want to agree on a flat rate of Baht 600. He said it’s traffic. Oyen insisted on using the meter. Bahala na kung lumampas ng 600.
We’re a few short blocks away from the hotel.
This stretch probably comes alive at night.
Looking at the old houses made me wish that our hotel is in a better location.
When we reached the Okura Prestige hotel, the surrounding is in stark contrast from the street with vendors and dilapidaed houses.
It was my daughter who chose and booked this hotel.
She’s been to Bangkok a number of times and she knows the surroundings fairly well. This is her 3rd trip here for this year.
She chose this hotel mainly for its location and high ratings.
Three years from now I am going to build a lobby this long. Or maybe 5. Or 10. Dreams are my reality.
The pretty Japanese front desk receptionist accompanied us to our room. I wished my son was with us. Bagay sila.
She said it used to take her an hour to wear her daily uniform but after several times she got better. Now it only takes her 10 minutes.
I only paid for my tickets. Hotel is free, makitulog lang ako. There’s an extra bed for me!
The room is really nice and well-appointed.
The hotel thought of every possible amenity that guests might need. It has practically everything one would look for in a hotel room.
We are on the 26th floor and the front desk told us the rooms on this floor are bigger than the rest.
I ate the pink macaroons, nay ko ang tamis.
I ate all the grapes.
There’s a welcome greeting on the tv screen.
Welcome to Bangkok Maria Yee and Me.
