Ten Days in Cambridge Ends

My ten days stay in Cambridge has ended.

bos-nv 249 Executive Program class

If not for the long list of things lined up for the rest of this year, I do want to stay longer for the summer. It’s my first time here and I like the area. The calmness, the laid-back ambiance of this student-town, clean surroundings, the old Victorian homes and mansions, the trees, parks, I like everything about this place. It’s safe too. Even in Boston, it has none of the chaos in big cities like Manhattan. Except for the harsh winters, this English-like area is a beautiful place to be. Too bad that it’s too far from my primary residence. It’s half-way around the globe from Manila.

I have successfully completed my first course under the Executive Program conducted at Harvard Law School. I call it first because there is so much to learn and I intend to come back. Given my daughter’s two weddings slated for next year, I am not sure how I would be able to squeeze in another ten days or a week in my pursuit of higher learning. I wish I have the time to attend their full program in law but that would be a stretch. I’ll finish when I am 75. Pass the bar at 88.  My mind and body can no longer handle rigorous reading and intensive studying. I am only prepped up to just sit on a red chair under the tree and take long naps.

I feel blessed to be here. I feel incredibly proud of myself for doing this during my spare time and in my twilight year.  And just before I went to bed last night, a very bright idea came to mind. I think I have found a good reason to come back to Cambridge without having to put in long hours of reading and studying. I will try to convince my son to study here. He is currently finishing his MBA, and a law degree in Harvard would be a good compliment to what he already has under his belt. If he says no, I will convince my daughter instead. But she’s starting a family and has three full-time jobs. Sino kaya? I will convince my husband!!!

  1. No, do it yourself. I love this, it is right up my alley too. I just got my Master’s last year and there is so much more to learn. I like the whole experience that surrounds it, too, as you did. Very much enjoyed reading your posts about your Harvard experience. Bravo!
