Thank you Lulu from Delta - Oh My Buhay

Thank you Lulu from Delta

I went to Delta Airlines’ office this noon on the 9th floor of some building in Salcedo Village.  Instead of writing to them about my complaints,  I just went and made a personal appearance regarding the 50,000 miles taken out of my  Skymiles.

On June 17,  I went there and got a free round trip ticket SFO to JFK,  JFK SFO charged from my mileage credits I have been saving from the time Oyen started going to college.    The trip was equivalent to 50,000 miles plus $5 fee.

I went back on July 1 to inform them that I won’t be using the SFO-JFK ticket because I instead bought a MANILA-Narita-JFK ticket.   I did emphasize however, that I would still be using the JFK-SFO as planned.

The lady there told me that they would not be able to credit back the mileage because it’s less than 72 hours before my flight, July 3.   I didn’t argue anymore,  but I was never informed about he 72 hours rule.

Only July 15,  with less than 2 before my flight to SFO,  the Delta check in counter declared my mileage ticket JFK-SFO void.  They also told me that since it’s less than 72 hours,  the mileage equivalent would no longer be credited.  i had no choice but to spend over $600++ to fly one way JFK to SFO.

Today,  I went to Delta with an open mind.  I did not want to get angry.  I just wanted to express my disappointment.   And I wanted to tell them that they didn’t give me the complete information, which caused me lots of money, and I almost missed my flight to SFO.

The lady who endured the pain of listening to my woes was named LULU.  Although she looked very formal and not prone to smiling,  she was patient with me.   She exercised maximum tolerance and was very objective.

After she analyzed and understood the situation,  she agreed to return the 50,000 to my Skymiles.  However, she told me that about the  $150 as penalty.   I requested if they could waive the $150 because it wasn’t due to my fault.

“I paid $600+ for my ticket, eh di parang $750 na yung one way ticket ko?”

She said this would be beyond her authority to decide.  I left my business card and my cellphone number.

After 3 hours,  she called and informed me that they are waiving the $150 penalty, and that they have already credited back my account.

Thank you Lulu.
