Marie’s father is American, her mom half Filipina and half Spanish. She grew up in Baguio. She met Ernie thru a friend and they now live happily in love in a one and a half acre house with deers in their backyard in a New Jersey countryside. She wakes up at around 4 am, leaves the house at 5:20, drives 40 minutes to reach the train station for a 20 minute ride to Port Authority. Then walk few blocks to United Nation (UN) where she’s been working since 199__ something.
She invited me to tour the UN a few days ago but our schedules didn’t permit. She invited me instead to have lunch today with her husband Ernie.
I already had a set appointment with Angie, and Oyen’s meeting with her friend Raffy, so we just all had lunch together, today.

I was really surprised when she sent me an email, introduced herself as “asawa ni Ernie Alcantara” and told me she reads my blog regularly. OMB is Tag-lish so it was a surprise to me that someone with a surname Hodge, could read Oh My Buhay. Yun pala she grew up in Baguio.

I thought it was my treat. I am not used to eat and not pay except when my husband is around. But today, Marie and Ernie made libre-libre not only me, but us.
Thank you so much Marie & Ernie. I’ll invite you over for lunch or dinner next time you visit Manila. And thank you nga pala for reading Oh My Buhay.
Thank you Ernie and Marie..love the pictures Anne
