After more than a week of not eating rice, we were already craving for steaming rice and that familiar flavorful Asian dishes.
While the golfers and their families were getting ready for the gala night,
daughter and I wandered around the cobbled-stone streets of the Old Town of St. Andrews and continued to explore the quaint stores and narrow streets
Until we got hungry…. we found this Chinese restaurant tucked in an alley between a row of stone houses
The name is The Dining Room Restaurant, not Chinese-sounding at all.
We walked in and were quite surprised at how nice the small area was.
Plus another surprise, the young lady who got our orders was a Filipina. She’s studying at the University of St. Andrews and is working part time at the restaurant. She was very masipag, doing multi-tasking. She took our orders, served our food, and while we were eating, I saw her outside the window cleaning the glass and window sill. Then she came back, cleaned the other tables, and cleaned our table too. Got our payment, issued us the receipt, etc. Ang sipag na bata. She was 10 when her family moved to London. She still speaks Tagalog.
The food was really tasty.
We loved this fried prawn so much that we ordered one more plate.
We split this very delicious banana fritters. We wanted to order one more of this except that we were already very full.
